Higher Ed Worship Degrees
A unique hands-on program where students will participate in a worship band every week.
The goal of the Praise and Worship Program is to provide a creative environment that trains and equips students who desire to be a worship pastor, worship leader, Christian artist, or songwriter for the local church and the church at large. Our curriculum models real world practicums that engage students in a learning environment and that places the band at the center of that training.
Whether you just graduated from high school, are a transfer student, or need training to continue to fulfill your calling in the music ministry, your journey with NPWI starts here!
In one year at NPWI, you will build a solid foundation of musical skills that range from worship leading to songwriting where you can earn an institutional minor. This a great option for students who want to receive solid training and mentoring and become a well-rounded musician. Students learn to sing and play at least 1-2 instruments at a proficient level. Students receive hands-on training and the benefits of working with a band, singing in the highly-recognized Testify: The Trevecca Gospel Choir, and receiving training by some of the best in the industry.
Students have the option of completing the two-year advanced certificate (recommended), which includes an opportunity to apply their training in a live environment, receive advanced training in areas like rehearsal techniques and the study of Psalms, and choosing specialized courses that coincide with their specific interest of study (songwriting, performance, worship leader, worship pastor).
Students can choose to earn an Associate of Arts Degree in Praise and Worship (recommended) by completing an additional 24 hours of Gen Ed. Students can take some of these courses while doing NPWI.
Completing a Bachelor's (popular) is another great option for students who want to be a part of NPWI and still earn a Bacehlor's degree. Students will be able to transfer into another discipline, including, but not limited to Worship Arts or Commercial Music.
In the fall semester of the second year at NPWI, we will advise students based on their skills and readiness if they should consider the employment field. We will give an honest assessment with options to advise the student regarding the next step in his/her career. Students who have demonstrated solid skills and successful completion of NPWI will be connected to Slingshot to find the best employment option.
